At SOKOfurniture, we make sculptural wall sconces from curved wood — designed in the spirit of quiet, natural calm and built by hand in our Polish workshop. Every lamp is shaped to bring a gentle warmth into the room: light filtered through real wood veneer, soft enough to live with every single day.

Our Workshop

SOKOfurniture began with a simple conviction — that a wall lamp should feel like a quiet companion rather than just a fixture. Working with bent plywood and natural veneers, we set out to create lighting that carries the character of the wood it is made from. Today, each sconce is still made in the same workshop in Poland, where traditional woodworking meets modern precision. No two pieces are exactly alike; each carries the grain, tone, and small individuality of the wood it was cut from.

How Each Sconce Is Made

Every lamp passes through the same patient, hands-on process:

Bending. Thin layers of plywood are shaped over forms into smooth, flowing curves — the sculptural silhouette that defines each design.
Veneering. A layer of natural wood veneer — cherry, walnut, rosewood, ash, etimoe, zebrano, birch or Japanese ash — is chosen sheet by sheet for its grain and applied by hand.
Sanding & finishing. Each surface is hand-sanded and finished with natural oils that deepen the grain and protect the wood without harsh chemicals.
Assembly. Certified electrical components are fitted by hand, and every lamp is tested before it leaves the workshop.

The result is light that glows softly through the veneer — warm, calm, and unmistakably wood.

Materials & Sustainability

Wood is at the heart of everything we do. We choose veneers for their natural beauty rather than uniformity, so every grain pattern is one of a kind. We minimise waste by optimising our cutting and repurposing offcuts, design our lamps to last with replaceable bulbs and serviceable parts, and pack every order in recyclable materials. Choosing wood means choosing a material that ages gracefully and stays out of landfill.

Each sconce is crafted in the European Union, in Poland, to a standard you can trust. We are proud to make the world's first UL-listed and CSA-approved wooden wall sconces, meeting rigorous North American and international safety standards while staying true to natural materials. Designer-level craftsmanship, without the designer markup.
